• Female head lice lay lice eggs.
• One female louse lays 3 to 5 eggs a day on the hair.
• To succeed at eliminating a head lice infestation, all eggs and lice must be removed from the hair.
• Lice eggs are tear-shaped, usually brown in colour, and are attached to only one side of the hair shaft. Egg
look-alikes, white in colour, surround the hair shaft and are often misdiagnosed as eggs.
• Most parents waste both time and energy doing countless washing of bed sheets and clothes. Instead,
vacuum or place items that have been in contact with head lice, in a dryer on high heat for 20-30 minutes
or set aside for 24-48 hrs.
• Pesticide sprays & treatments should be used with caution.
